Crystal Lake Fishway Completion Ceremony Today
The Old Saybrook Conservation Commission will host a ceremony to open the recently completed Crystal Lake Fishway today, Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. at the Old Saybrook Town Park on Schoolhouse Road.  All are welcome at this ceremony, which acknowledges the third and final fishway constructed in the Oyster River watershed to allow anadromous fish to reach their traditional spawning areas in the northwest part of town. Read More ...

Grim Weather for Gulls!
Many thanks to Peg Gallagher for sending us a couple of photos of some seagulls coping with the cold winter winds on Saybrook Point in this past Monday's noreaster.  She says in her email, "I never saw seagulls huddling before ... they always seem so brave flying above the water.  Saybrook Point winds on Monday challenged them."  We imagine our feathered friends are certainly looking forward to spring - just like us! Read More ...

Look Who's Come Into Town!
Bob Czepiel has sent us some wonderful photos of the visitor he saw on North Cove this morning.  A seal was basking in the sunlight and, from the look of the photos, seemed completely at ease with its surroundings, although, despite some delectable offerings, he/she declined to come any closer. Read More ...
